This Mighty Mini Mustang takes you into a whole new realm with Its ability to be flown in smaller environments now! You get all the fun and excitement of a large mustang, but now the convenience of a mini size area for your experience!

The P-51 is definitely one of the most iconic airplanes of all time and this one sheet foam board airplane kit is a great way to experience the great flight characteristics of this icon. Using 4 channels, and the power of a 2204 size brushless motor which can often be found on mini racing quads, the Mini Mustang has more than enough power for endless vertical climb, and most basic aerobatic maneuvers such as knife edge. With its wide flight envelope, this little Mustang can fly slow enough to be easily flown at a decent sized park.

My son and I were determined to fly this plane without a SAFE receiver. We don't usually need SAFE so we didn't think this would be a problem. We crashed, crashed and crashed this plane.. Finally I told my son to give it full throttle and make this last crash spectatular. I flew perfect! After watching a video on the real Mustang, I heard that the real Mustang has a high stall speed. Also, other RC pilots talking about flying warbirds to the ground. The light came on. Both my son and I were babying the plane and trying to fly it too slow. This plane flies best at full throttle takeoff and no less than half throttle. Also, make sure your rates and expo are set very concervative. Just a wee bit of aileron makes this puppy roll! Fantastic plane.

In my original comment, I stated that the 2nd crash totaled my plane. After sulking for a week, I decided to try to resurrect it. The impact had resulted in several deep creases in the foam board on both sides fore and aft of the cockpit, and the foam board under the battery compartment was partially blown out.

Creases in foam board equate to weak spots. To fix them, I carefully carved a shallow "V" shaped trough along the length of each crease, being careful to not cut all the way through the foam. I filled each trough with hot glue and wiped the glue level with the outer surface. This technique results in a very strong repair. I also hot glued the area below the battery compartment and reinforced it with clear packing tape. The motor was damaged in the 2nd crash, and I decided to use the slightly less powerful 1806 2280kV motor that comes with the "A" powerpack.

Result: she's back in the air and flying well. Even with the less powerful motor, she is still very fast and will pull a vertical climb with ease. She isn't as pretty now, but I enjoy flying her, so I'm bumping her up to 4 stars.

I bought the Mini P-51 quick-build kit with Power Pack F. The Mini P-51 was my first-ever RC plane build. The build went well and the plane was nicely balanced. I enjoyed flying the Mini P-51, but it was a handful in the air. My main complaint is the very tight interior space in the narrow fuselage. It made installing the electronics challenging and using a 3-cell 850 mAh battery difficult. After 2 recent crashes, my P-51 is history. I'll build another MIni P-51 when it gets a John Overstreet makeover like the Mini Corsair and Mini Zero.
