The FT Twin Otter is one of the most versatile and capable aircraft in the entire Flite Test lineup. This fun-scale interpretation of the legendary Twin Otter captures the iconic look while delivering exceptional stability and performance. Whether you’re flying smooth aerobatics, exploring FPV, towing gliders, or operating from water or snow, this aircraft is built to do it all.

Designed by David Jester, the FT Twin Otter reflects his passion for versatility, simplicity, and strength. Smart fold-together construction and easy alignment techniques make the build approachable while maintaining a rugged, great-looking airframe that’s ready for serious use.

This project was also inspired by our friends at Flex Innovations, known for their extreme-performance, large-scale aircraft. The FT Twin Otter was created as the perfect DIY stepping stone—offering similar flight characteristics in a smaller, easy-to-build platform that prepares pilots for higher-energy models.

Equipped with the FT Aura 5, the Twin Otter delivers powerful flight-assist features like launch assist, level assist, and differential stabilization. With the flip of a switch, you can move seamlessly from training flights to aggressive aerobatics. Optional flaps unlock a massive speed range—cruise quickly across the sky, then slow to a near jogging pace for smooth, controlled landings.

Want even more capability? Add the optional FPV tray and pan/tilt system for an immersive first-person flying experience, or install the float system to take off and land on water or snow. With its wide, stable stance and differential thrust, the FT Twin Otter is an outstanding choice for your first pontoon aircraft.

From workbench to runway in as little as 4 hours, the FT Twin Otter features removable wings for easy transport and endless versatility once you arrive. This is the kind of aircraft that goes everywhere you do—and one that never gets old, dusty, or left behind.

I bought this plane at Flite Fest 2024 and was blown away by the pure power and maneuverability one can get from a cheap foam aircraft. This aircraft will definitely become a permanent part of my fleet and I am looking forward to flying it in the future!
