The Fokker DR-1 Triplane was one of the most iconic aircraft of World War I. This innovative fighter was both maneuverable and powerful enough to wreak havoc on its enemies. We have taken this iconic design and reimagined it into the FT Triplane XL which is easy to build and fun to fly, while not compromising on performance or capability. This larger improved version of our FT Mighty Mini Triplane builds in as little as 4 hours and can fly over 10 minutes on a single charge.  Because of its incredible maneuverability, this aircraft makes a great introduction into the world of scale-vintage aircraft for intermediate pilots.

You can expect to do all the classic barnstorming maneuvers that you typically see from aircraft of this era. Along with that, the over-powered 2814 motor gives you the ability to perform advanced aerobatics like high alpha flying and incredibly short take-offs and landings. Add on the optional FPV pan and tilt and you are now transported back to the early days of flight and ready to do battle from the cockpit itself. This plane is at home in a small backyard due to its incredible slow speed abilities or take it to a park and tear up the skies with plenty of room to spare. Even a large open indoor arena is a perfect place for the FT Triplane XL.

This design also offers a wide variety of optional add-ons, from the decal kit to our dummy motor that add an incredible level of scale without the penalty of time and weight. Our hope is that this fun flying warbird can bring many smiles to friends and family as they recreate their favorite battle scenes and the skies. Thank you for supporting Flite Test and for being part of our flying family!

AVAILABLE ADDONS

Our FPV Pan/Tilt system is 3D-printed upgrade and designed to easily snap into your aircraft using the FT 3D-printed simple receiver. It's the same receiver used for landing gear attachments on all FT designs. This means you can quickly transfer the pan tilt system from one plane to another.

Servos are included and it is compatible with a range of cameras, from simple all-in-one cameras to advanced HD systems like HDO, Walksnail, and DJI.

The FT XL Dummy Motor is a perfect addition for any XL aircraft requiring the look of a round radial engine. This accessory is made out of high-impact polystyrene and is vacuum formed to be very lightweight and provide great detail, specifically designed for the FT Triplane XL. The FT XL Dummy Motor fits perfectly around the FT 2814 motor.

I love everything Flite Test is about. I have built MANY of their planes, both from plans and dollar store foamboard master series kits with the old foamboard. WHY, WHY, WHY don't you tell us that paint WON'T sick to your new Builders Foam???? I have an awesome new XL Triplane with one screwed up paint job. Peeling the masking tape pulled paint off with it. (Low tack painters tape) Forget taping it off for the detail work. Hope the stickers stay on.

First time builder. I used the build video as my instruction manual. Stopping and starting each segment and because of my age, watching it more than once. But all went well, and I enjoyed putting it together didn’t take any time at all. Now all I have to do is figure out how to buy in the radio master pocket to the receiver. I’ve watched several videos on that but no luck so far I’ll keep trying.
