I really wasn't sure what I was getting into when I decided to mount this on my old 60" Extreme Flight Extra 300. It's a good deal heavier than the Hacker motor it was replacing, draws who knows how much current on who knows what prop, and the pre-drilled holes on the x-mount had to be drilled out quite a bit to fit the motor box blind nuts on the Extreme Flight. I had to significantly extend the ESC wires to mount the Talon 90 well inside the fuse to get it to balance properly with the heavier motor (without adding tail weight). That necessitated adding a 40mm fan onto the ESC, since it was overheating away from direct airflow of the prop. After installation, bench tests thankfully showed that the motor draws right around 90A at static WOT on a Xoar 18x8 with timing on the Talon 90 set to 4. Perfect.

First few flights have been great. The plane is a bit slower now, but low speed handling is night-and-day better with much improved control authority post-stall. The 60" Extra now flies like a giant indoor 3D foamie, which is exactly what I wanted. Harriers, hovering, and torque rolls feel simulator-smooth, making me feel like a way better pilot than I actually am. Put simply: big prop = better control.

I suspect this motor would be a great choice for any model designed for a .90 to 1.20 four-stroke nitro or 15-20cc gas. The Monster Motor basically gives 8S power from a 6S powerplant. I am very impressed.

P.S. - Loctite the grub screw that holds the outer can to the prop shaft. I haven't had any issues, but I have some friends who've had them back out over time.
