The FT Tiny Trainer is a Mighty Mini that is specifically designed to cover all the basics when it comes to RC Flight, and now it comes in the patented Maker Foam v.2. Whether you are a beginner yourself, or if you are trying to bring a newcomer into this wonderful hobby, the Tiny Trainer will assist them in making every flight a great experience! This plane can be built and converted into 4 different designs that will guide you through every level of getting started flying.

Educators, group leaders, and parents looking to make a memory with a loved one can build the Tiny Trainer as a free flight (hand tossed) glider or a powered RC airplane. A little clay in the nose for balance, and your ready to toss the plane back in forth with a friend! Remove the clay and add 2 servos and you have a great 2-channel glider to learn elevator and rudder control. Swap out your glider nose for the powered nose and enter into the world of 3 channel flight. Once you are comfortable with slow lazy eights and graceful loops, remove the polyhedral wing and replace it with the included sport wing. The sport wing will teach you bank and yank skills and enter you into world of aerobatics and precision flight. Install a 3 cell battery and go from cruising to cutting up the sky with vertical lines and exhilarating speed.

The Tiny Trainer will also get you up to speed with techniques used with all FT designs. Every technique from "A Folds" to Folding wing airfoils will be used in this one build.

I am 13 years old and I’m getting into flying with my dad who has been flying for nearly 40 years. I saved up and bought/built this plane completely by myself. So far this plane is amazing but I can’t fly when windy. I would suggest no wind when flying as a beginner. I was able to fly this plane about 2 times the speed of a tiger moth. I am so satisfied with my purchase and am saving up for another plane from them. The only reason I gave it five stars was because I couldn’t give it 10.

Great flying abilities though I do wish it had landing gear. There is a 3d printing file on the forums. Make sure you buy an extra prop. Otherwise it’s a great airplane.

Mostly a straightforward build. Even with the video there were some unanswered questions along the way, particularly about the power pod assembly. Building with my 6 and 10 year old sons, they were able to complete many steps with only some guidance which was really nice. We used hot glue with a cheap gun. I would highly recommend using a quality gun and glue as it would have helped us with more working time and more precise application (less mess/weight, better adhesion, etc.)

That said it flies very well with the trainer wing and power pack "A". I prefer it with a 2S 650mAh pack. Slow flight performance is better and still has plenty of power to climb nearly vertically. I can get 10-15 min flight times depending on style. Very relaxing and predictable to fly. My 10 year old is learning quickly on this configuration. Stalling behavior is very gentle and with full elevator you can controllably float/mush around. We do find this plane to fly best with the CG about 1/4" forward of the specified range.

A 3S 850mAh pack is toughe to balance and needs the pack shoved nearly off of the back of the power pack and still generally feels nose heavier in the air. Unlimited vertical and quite overpowered for the trainer wing. Slow flight performance not unstable but not as floaty either. Don't really need anything over 50% throttle with the 3S pack.

We have yet to build the sport wing but I'm sure it will be fun! We would definitely buy another FT kit as the building and flying experience has been very nice with the Tiny Trainer.
