Simple Storch: A cool bird
I built two of these FT Storches. One from scratch (plan) and the other from a kit. I purchased the FT electronics also. The build video helped a lot. The toughest part of the build was the landing gear wire bending to get both sides “perfect, but I took my time, got it right, and fit on well. It has very slow flying characteristics and I needed rudder mix with airlerons for it’s slow turns. It lands STOL like it was designed to do. Not an acrobat… just a slow flying “lazy stork-kinda” plane to have fun with. Painted one of them army green and the other I covered with green packing tape. Both wete a lot of fun!

Simple Storch
The Storch is a fun build first, average flyer second. As a larger plane it has a wow factor to it, and the lines of the body design are very attractive. The flight characteristics of the Storch are a bit less attractive. True to form its a slow, easy going plane, but compared to other large wingspan planes its very inert. Roll is very slow, adverse yaw is aggressive. Pitch and Yaw react slowly and the result makes you worried about how quickly you can maneuver the aircraft. ITs also very easy to mess up the aerodynamics during building. Any wrong angle and the aircraft becomes a mess. Its advantages still remain a lack of speed, and an ease of keeping it stable and slow. I think its a poor choice for a beginner, but an excellent platform to push STOL interests due to its immense wing
