FMS has modified its design of the Bell P-39 into the Thompson Trophy racer, Cobra II. The 1946 race was won by Alvin "Tex" Johnston flying Cobra II. Being able to achieve a true airspeed of 420 MPH at sea level, it was unbeatable that day.

FMS has replicated Cobra II in its 980mm Series for those that want a truly different high speed aircraft to fly. If you love the warbird look and enjoy the excitement of heart-pounding speeds, this aircraft will satisfy both of your desires! RocHobby P-39 Cobra II Racer PNP Electric Airplane (980mm)
This is a very well made and great flying little P-39. It has no AS3X, and is a little smaller than E-flite's model, but it costs about $50 less.

My first impressions were really good, as the only thing you have to do to the model is add the control horns, and put the wings and tail on, and it's ready. The control links are the ball swivel type, and are VERY sturdy.

Flies pretty standard with a 3s 2200 pack, but flies proper with a 4s 2200 - flight times of 6+ minutes are possible, but be very strict with your timer, as the motor and prop combination is VERY quiet! I normally use sound to tell me when the battery is about to get low, or die, and this plane is almost whisper quiet when flying.

Something pretty interesting that you should avoid is flying with full flaps frequently. I had the experience of trying to do some low fly-bys with full flaps down, and when you get too slow, you will likely punch the throttle to get back up in the air. The only issue is, with the flaps behind the C.G., when you punch full throttle with full flaps at really low airspeeds, those flaps act like elevators, AND THE PLANE WILL FLIP NOSE OVER ON IT'S BACK!!!!! This happened to me low to the ground, and it was a miracle that I got it back! Makes for an awesome trick when you're up high and want to do some crazy acrobatics, though!

Great plane overall with nice paint, and nice handling. Gear will take a beating, so keep your eyes on those screws holding them on, I've already lost a few!
