Worked for a while

Got one of these initially to charge a handful of lipo batteries I was using in my FT planes. It worked great, but after a few months the buttons started intermittently not working. Eventually the sticker over the button traces lifted up, and I saw that the traces were stuck to this sticker, and were now broken. I continued using the charger by just using multimeter leads to complete the traces on the button I wanted to "push". It worked this way for another month and then the internal AC adaptor quit. I tried using an old laptop power supply but the B6AC is picky about voltage. Finally, after all the trouble, I tossed it in the bin. Can't recommend this one. There are supposedly genuine and other clones that use mechanical buttons, after this experience I would stay away from designs that use the "sticker" style buttons.

Take Your Money Elsewhere

About a year ago, I bought the FT Explorer starter kit, which included the IMax B3. The charger worked for four months and then stopped showing the cell charge indicator lights. I figured I’d step up to the B6 to avoid similar problems. I did, for about five months. Then, I encountered serious problems. When trying to charge a 3s LiPo, the B6 said, “OVER VOLTAGE.” This means the cell count I put in is lower than the cell count the charger sees on the battery. I quadruple-checked my cell counts, switched batteries twice, and calibrated my amperages to no avail. Then, I suddenly started getting a “REVERSE POLARITY” error when I had nothing plugged into the charger. I wanted to see about a warranty replacement, but I discovered more bad news. Even though the back of the manual states the B6 has a one-year manufacturer warranty, there is no way to contact IMax. Their website is printed as “” on the front of the manual. I tried to visit it only to discover the site doesn’t exist. I am now stuck with a defective product and no way to tell the company about it. This is the last product I will ever buy from IMax. Avoid them at all costs. Take your money elsewhere and invest in a company that actually exists.
