- FPV Gear
We finally get to welcome the FT SPEAR to the FT plane family!! You can fit it all in the new FT SPEAR! This plane was designed to be able to carry all your gear when you fly! you can put your GoPro, board camera, 2 batteries, fpv gear, and even a vector system, if you have one. Also, if you have seen the episode it EVEN HOLDS chipotle chips, guac and a BURRITO!! haha The Spear has a unique center console that is made larger and wider for the very purpose for storage. The larger wing allows for a larger payload compared to the FT Mini Arrow! This wing also allows for you to strap/tape bendable tripods with cameras for different ariel viewpoints if you are trying to get that epic shot! The Spear also is super stable and allows you to perform acrobatically challenging maneuvers with ease!
Thank you for you for your support by picking up an FT Spear and PLEASE make sure to let us know what you think! We always love your feedback!
NOTE:Every purchase of the spear will include a NEW FT Sticker set (7 piece set)

I bought the spear after seeing the review video you guys did and loved the idea of using it as a aerial camera and FPV platform. This was my first flying wing as well as my first FPV setup and I could not be more happy with this plane!! I cannot count the hours I have logged, and I am anxiously awaiting the next clear, mild day to go fly again!! Tyler Lowery on 8th Feb 2017
hello, you could say im quite new to this hobby. im coming from the drone realm of rc and had Always wanted to fly rc airplanes. i bought an go discover and it flew Amazing but i felt that building my own plane would be more fun. so i bought the speedbuild kit, built it less than 5 hours, painted it stared at it for a mounth Before i had a go. it had awsome flight characteristics. i flew with an 3000mAh 4s battery had had now problem with going vertical, the radio link was the only limitation. when i landed it one of the vertical wings flew of, and pulling up from high speed dives cause Control Surface to loose about half of its effect. the water resistant paper dident really stick that well to the foambard. Later i saw that the cotrolsurfaces where loose after one flight due to that the bond between the water resistant paper and foamboard. I dont know, maybe im flying to fast, thats why i love it. I just built the Spear....and am totally amazed at the design. FT hit this one completely out of the park! Scott on 27th Dec 2016
I scratch built the first one from the plans and used dollar foam board. The plane went together pretty darn quick. With me having my roots in balsa, I was skeptical at first. This plane is very tough, and strong. The maiden was done with 12 mph winds with gusts up to 20mph. The plane was set up as per the instructions and was very easy to handle. A miscalculation on the 3rd landing tore the wing tips off. The plane handled with a slight wandering in the yaw axis, but was still pleasant to fly. I have since added coroplast wing tips traced from the plans, and the plane handles like it is on rails. I have also ordered a speed build kit for my son, with power pack and all. To me, it was worth the price. With the recommended power pack, my plane will go vertical and gain speed. my son and I are very well pleased with this kit. Fred on 20th Dec 2016
I bought this plane as a first step into building airplanes after flying them for a few months. The kit included everything I needed to build it. The construction process took me and my cousin roughly 4 hours, as it was our first ever build. I have yet to maiden it due to poor weather this week, but it was a blast to assemble and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try out building. Henry O'C on 2nd Dec 2016
The FT Spear looks to be a good flying wing. It is very sturdy when complete. Plenty of room to install equipment. I am going to try a 2212 1000kv motor system. These are very inexpensive at $43 for 4 full sets of Motor, Speed control, Prop adapter and 2 props 1 each CW and CCW. We will see how it performs.
The building techniques can be challenging on this plane. It is not my first FT build. I also built the FT Mini Scout. It is not real hard but I would try something simpler first! Unknown on 3rd Nov 2016
Wonderful wing with loads of room to electronics and a great build experience.
Thanks FT Unknown on 2nd Nov 2016
My first venture into the flite test store and speed build kits, this model was built fairly easily over the course of a few hours a day.
My only issue was that the propeller that came in the suggested power pack was about half an inch too long on either side of the wing, so I had to remove a chunk to allow the propeller to pass freely.
Make sure you get your CG right, as mine was a little unstable on my first flight and I eventually plowed into the dirt and crunched the side of the nose.

Looks like it's very well thought of.i have built a couple others of yours as well.i haven't started it yet cause I just had surgery on wrist so review will have to wait but if it's like your other kits I'm sure I will be happy Dusty on 17th Oct 2016
Love this thing. Flies very nice. And with a Eagletree Vector or similar stabilizer you can get the smooth camera shots to make you look like a PRO. Plenty of room for batteries and flight gear. Also it is an easy and quick build. Get one today!!! Battershell on 17th Oct 2016
